Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. ________________________________ Deadline for Youth Heritage Project student applications extended to May 31. <https://gallery.mailchimp.com/907c69b081f5ea7a5b595e058/images/488974c1-2fbf-4a96-8ce0-ace0580ff3fe.png> Youth Heritage Project Two Weeks Left to Apply: Deadline Extended to May 31 <https://mcusercontent.com/907c69b081f5ea7a5b595e058/images/98dfecad-49c6-218f-c005-904c1f83de63.png> Are you ready for an adventure that combines history, science, and the great outdoors? Look no further than the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation’s Youth Heritage Project! This summer's program takes place July 18-21 near the Tri-Cities in central Washington at the Manhattan Project National Historical Park's Hanford Site—a former plutonium production complex now engaged in the world’s largest environmental cleanup. And great news if you (or your teens!) have been busy with exams: students now have two more weeks to apply with the deadline extended to May 31. Apply Today! <https://preservewa.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=907c69b081f5ea7a5b595e058&id=8ab123ec6d&e=2a9ec8db03> At this summer's YHP, students will have the chance to learn about the contributions and perspectives of the Tribal Nations who have called this area home since time immemorial and the workers who helped build the world’s first plutonium production facilities. They will explore the complex legacies of the project that ushered in the nuclear age and learn about the challenges that come with preserving cultural sites, historic districts, and a National Historic Landmark sitting inside the boundaries of a federal Superfund site. Learn about efforts to co-steward the stories of the Hanford Site with experiential activities and new friends while giving back to the community through a project proposal at the conclusion of the jam-packed week. Come discover historic Hanford with us! Email us at yhp@preservewa.org if you have any questions.
