RE: APPLICABILITY OF 1996 GEOTECHNICAL REPORT FOR

Dear Mr. Stem:
At your request, we visited the referenced site on February 28,2006, to review the site
conditions and applicability of a geotechnical report by Shannon & Wilson, Inc., dated May 16,
1996. This report was prepared for a previous property owner for design and construction of a
single-family residence on this site. However, the previous owner did not construct a residence
on the property. We understand that you are the current property owner and propose to build a
single-family residence on the site. To approve construction of a residence on this property, we
understand that Jefferson County requires a geotechnical report that assesses the stability of the
site slopes and provides appropriate recommendations for development. We further understand
that Jefferson County will accept our 1996 report, provided that neither the site conditions nor
our assessment regarding the stability of the site has changed.
During our February 28,2006, site visit, we observed no substantial changes in the site
conditions from those reported in our 1996 report. .Consequently, our assessment regarding the
stability of the slopes on this site provided in our 1996 report has not changed. It is our opinion
that the general recommendations provided in our 1996 report for foundations, site drainage, and
construction are generally applicable for design and construction of a residence on this site.
However, we recommend that we review the plans and specifications for the proposed residence
once they are developed, to evaluate their consistency with the geotechnical recommendations in
our 1996 report.
