RE: Proposed dump fees increase
This is a really bad idea, and not just because it's an arbitrary increase based on a comparison with counties that aren't very comparable to our county.
Doesn't anyone in county government realize many people who self-haul trash place pet waste and/or diapers in their garbage cans? It's unreasonable and ill-advised to suggest they haul
their trash less frequently.
Also, you'd be forcing people who just need to get rid of a small amount of ordinary trash to choose between waiting until they have twice as much junk piled up or paying way too much.
Perhaps it's a coincidence, but this proposal is all-too similar to the airline industry's new business model: increase profits by charging more money for less service.
The county should abandon this ill-conceived approach and (1) revise and increase the queue space, which has never been adequate, and (2) do a better job eradicating the Scotch Broom
that seems to be increasing every year in the yard waste area.
