On May 25, 2022 -- two years after George Floyd was killed -- President Biden signed the Public Trust and Public Safety EO after Congress failed to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing
Act. Reflecting months of consultations with civil rights groups, law enforcement organizations, and other critical stakeholders, the historic executive order included key elements
of the bill to strengthen public trust and public safety, including by banning the use of choke holds, restricting no-knock warrants, and tightening use-of-force policies to emphasize
de-escalation. In this briefing, you will hear from senior officials from the White House, the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Health
and Human Services about the Biden-Harris Administration’s implementation of the Public Trust and Public Safety EO to date.
