This plan provides a common vision for public funding of outdoor recreation and conservation priorities. It also includes a roadmap to implement that vision. The Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) developed this plan over 18 months with significant public input as a comprehensive approach to fulfilling planning obligations required by state and federal laws. The plan was developed with the assistance of two planning advisory committees represented by state, local, and federal land managers, and members of the public. RCO also conducted five public surveys and direct outreach to gain input from the public and land managers on the plan's focus areas and priorities. Outdoor Learning Grant (OLG) is a funding program administered by the Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) for the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). Funding is contingent on final budget adoption by the Governor and allocations by OSPI. Applicants must partner with a Washington Public school. Funding may be used to support existing partnerships or to create future outdoor K-12 educational programming. Eligible applicants include federally recognized tribes, local governments, non-profit organizations, state agencies, and federal agencies. The Recreation and Conservation Office is excited to announce a new, one-time grant for Local Parks Maintenance (LPM). If your park has projects on its list that have been backlogged and your community needs help making these improvements, consider applying for this new grant! This one-time funding is intended to support local parks in maintaining facilities that meet the needs of their residents. The grant targets deferred maintenance for communities in need and may include funding for staff time, maintenance equipment, supplies, and small capital facilities to support certain upkeep, renovations, repairs, or minor replacements. Spokane County Parks, Recreation, and Golf Department is currently using this grant to renovate the beach area at Liberty Lake Regional Park. Improvements include a new dock with accessible non-motorized boat launch and fishing pier, new parking, pathways, new loading/unloading area for the beach, paving the beach access road, reconfiguration of park entrance, irrigation improvements, interpretive signage, storm water improvements, new picnic shelter, and replacement of the existing restroom.
