Thanks to the Fort Worden PDA, materials are packed and stored at the Fort Worden Battery Putnam, then delivered to Kent once per month thanks to OlyCAP and Northwest Harvest food bank trucks. At the Kent recycling facility, machines use heat to convert the EPS and LDPE into a toothpaste-like consistency that cools into heavy, glassy blocks of polystyrene or polyethylene, which are then sold to manufacturers of products such as picture frames and construction details. They are planning to build 5 townhouses in Port Townsend that will actually be affordable for people of low to moderate income. They are applying for a Housing Trust Fund grant through the state. One of the many items to investigate is to gather info on whether they know of people who would qualify for loans for these townhouses. The loans will be under $250K. The survey will identify how many people are in the family, what income bracket they fall into, whether they are currently residents of Jefferson County, if they already own a home or not. It is optional for anyone to give us their contact information. ________________________________ Community Resources Eat Local First's Washington Food & Farm Finder Map Eating local — and supporting our community’s farmers, fishers, and other food producers — is easy with the Eat Local First Washington Food & Farm Finder <https://l2020.us8.list-manage.com/track/clic k?u=18a86f67bdd611c999ee661f5&id=19a3410270&e=65e5a66890> , from the statewide group Eat Local First (ELF) Collaborative <https://l2020.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=18a86f67bdd611c999ee661f5&id= 5dbd880b30&e=65e5a66890> .
