Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. ________________________________ Timber Counties Caucus Members, Thanks for your attendance and participation at last week’s meeting. I hope it was useful for you and the work you do to represent your county. At the meeting, I reported on a discussion I’d had that afternoon with Hilary Franz, Commissioner of Public Lands. As you’ll recall, she plans to reach out directly to certain counties in a letter to offer direct communication with the DNR about forestland management issues in the county. The letter is intended as an invitation to meet directly with DNR and discuss how you can be more involved in the decisions about forested state trust lands in your county. The DNR is specifically planning to reach out to several counties where there is ongoing discussion by the residents, specifically about older or “legacy” forests. If your county is not one of the counties I mentioned at the meeting that will receive the letter invitation (Mason, Thurston, Whatcom, King, Skagit, Jefferson), but you’d like to receive one, please let me know. I can pass that desire on to the Commissioner. DNR is willing to include additional counties in the invitation if they are interested. Please respond to me by the close of business on Thursday, 6/1.
