Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. ________________________________ June 12, 2023 Dear Heidi Eisenhour/County Commissioners’ Office: I am writing to express my concerns regarding the discharge of firearms on the DNR property that is adjacent to Goss Road and Cape George Road in Jefferson County. I live on Goss Road and the subject government property is used by, and walking trails are maintained by, the local community members. Many of the community members have dogs and these trails are used to walk our dogs on a daily basis. During hunting season, cars are frequently parked on Goss Road and near Pocket Lane with hunters sitting in their vehicles with firearms in visible site, waiting for deer. I have observed hunters shooting at deer that are on the DNR land toward our homes. They do not appear to be aware that our homes are nearby and that citizens frequently use the walking trails. This situation is very dangerous and it is only a matter of time for someone, or some home, to get hit by a stray bullet. This property is too small and populated to be used as a hunting area or to allow the discharge of firearms for shooting practice.
