Re: An Invitation to observe and participate in ARRL's National Field Day, held at Fort Flagler
Dear Commissioner,
On June 24/25 the Mike & Key Amateur Radio Club will participate in the annual ARRL Field Day at Fort
Flagler State Park. Field Day has been ham radio's annual open house since 1933 and remains the most
popular event in ham radio. More than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary
transmitting stations in public places and contact each other to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill and
service to our communities and our nation.
This exercise combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical
skills all in a single event that is open to the public. Visitors can even participate and get on the air under
the supervision of a licensed ham radio operator.
Our Club has participated in Field Day from Fort Flagler State Park since 1975. With more than 300
members, our Club is one of the major ham radio organizations in the greater Puget Sound area. Our
web page at t til: , ,,,, :. ,0 i contains detailed information about who we are and what we
do. For more on this annual National event, please go to tutps. ;wv;w.ani.oiQ i eiu-uay.
On behalf of our Club, I would like to invite you to stop by our Field Day information booth at the entrance
to the Bluff at the north-eastern end of Fort Flagler State Park. We would be delighted to give you a tour
of our setup and operations. Best times to visit should be on Saturday, June 24, between 11:00 AM and
5:00 PM.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Yeariarl
