PUBLIC COMMENT
4. Summary of Public Comments: 6:01
a. Jan Wold:
i. Lives by hood canal. Supports ECY section of comments on SMP that includes the
need for a Conditional Use Permit for shellfish farming, including Geoducks.
ii. Supports buffer of 150 ft even across pavement/road
b. Marilyn Showalter:
i. Wrote PC a letter regarding this topic. Most important part of the SMP are the
regulations involving shellfish and geoduck harvesting, including the new,
conversion, and expansion of geoduck harvesting.
ii. Conditional use does not dictate outcome. It allows public discourse about
projects
c. Sue Corbett:
i. Lived in Port Ludlow 40 years and urges PC to keep geoduck regulations. Sent
letter two years ago as a petition with neighbors urging the same.
5. Planning Commission Updates: 5:33
a. Kevin: IRC Wildland Code and Energy Code postponed until October 28, 2023
b. Matt: Arlene Alans Absence from subcommittees
6. DCD Staff and Director Updates: 5:35
a. Mid-June district one and two appointments by the BoCC
b. Advertising district one (Arlene Alen’s position)
c. Josh:
i. Auburn, Assistant Planner leaving department
