Good afternoon Commissioners Dean, Brotherton, Eisenhour and Director Peters:
It's been over a week since our email to all of you (see email dated 6/14/23). We're not sure what to think since we haven't heard from any of you. As we mentioned in our previous email
it's now been 16 plus weeks since we submitted our building permit application.
We reached out to Commissioner Eisenhour via phone on 6/5/23 and we communicated via text until 6/12 where her last message said "Sorry about the delay. I will check in with the team
tomorrow". We have not heard anything since then. That was 8 business days ago.
Sally Ellis has been trying to help us navigate this process and from what we can tell she isn't having any luck getting any answers either.
In our opinion we've been enormously patient. The weather window for building is getting shorter every day that goes by without our permit.
We would appreciate some sort of response from one or all of you explaining when we can expect this permit to be issued. We are beyond frustrated at this point and find the lack of communication
discouraging to say the least.

Good morning County Commissioners and Josh Peters,
I’m writing to you today appealing for help getting the above referenced building permit issued.
With the help of Sally Ellis we applied for a building permit on March 1, 2023 for a simple garage building on established property. Today, June 14th we have reached the 15 week mark
since the application was submitted. That is 75 business days and as yet we have not received any kind of notification that this application is nearing completion.
We have heard the stories of the building department’s issues with staff retention, turnover, etc. While sympathetic to this situation we feel we have been patient with the permit processing
timeline thus far. With Sally’s help we worked very hard to submit a complete and accurate permit application with the hope that this would help prevent delays and/or the need for additional
information.
After Sally’s follow up phone calls and her update to me yesterday, I’m not optimistic that we are even close to finalization which is why you are hearing from me today.
I am truly sorry that the building department is experiencing such difficulties but the delays in issuing this permit are having a negative impact on our ability to get our garage built
during prime building season.
As a citizen and a permit applicant, I would love to see a system of transparency where we can view the permitting process online as it flows through the steps to completion.
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.
I hope to hear from you soon.
