Hi all,
The attached LA Times article argues why we must eliminate parking requirements so we can build worker housing. If you do, it will actually free up staff time now devoted to ensuring
cars have places to sleep instead of devoting time so people do. Plus, it doesn’t mean parking won’t be built; it only means the owner will decide how much gets built.
As an example of why, one need only check out Seventh Haven. It’s required and very expensive underground parking, though even less than the usual mandated amount, is still less than
half used. Why is because the residents don’t own cars. That space and expense could have built several additional units of housing.
All it will take is a motion, a second, and a vote. Time’s a wastin’, my friends.
Scott
