Hi Greg, Thanks for your voicemail message this morning. I was able to listen to the live stream. Unfortunately, when time came to comment, I couldn't because I was in the AVCapture mode instead of the regular Zoom meeting, so I was listen only instead of being a part of the meeting. Hence, my email. I felt like the meeting had more of a congratulatory feeling to it than what went wrong and what we can do in the future. Maybe we didn't have any fires this year, which is great, but it was because we were extremely lucky more than anything. The most irritating part of the meeting was when the sheriff stated that he didn't want to be put in the position of sending officers into a group of 100 people or more and try to enforce laws. WTF! Isn't that their job? I hope you and the other commissioners found that comment as unsettling as I did. As mentioned on my voicemail to you...the group of people down at Gardiner Beach knew that there was a ban and didn't care. My husband and I went down there and asked them to stop, told them there was a ban and that they were jeopardizing lives and property. "Get out of here. We don't care if it's against the law" along with laughs and people yelling at us was the response. All we needed was to have an officer go there early on and give out a ticket. The sheriff said that 46 people called in. I'm sure that a good chunk of those calls were from Gardiner. Why didn't one single officer show up during the 6-hour timeframe and tell them to stop and clean up their mess? The lack of response makes it all the more likely that these folks (I don't think many were actually from Gardiner) will just do it again. Some people might not respect laws and bans, but they sure will respect a $1000 ticket or a few nights in jail. Thanks for listening and I did appreciate YOUR comments at the end of the meeting.
