Unfortunately, there seemed to be just as much explosive activity, if not more, in my Irondale neighborhood than other years. Perhaps this was due to the short notice and lack of adequate publicity of the ban or simply defiance. I have lived in Irondale for 31 years and every year have dreaded the 4th of July with its accompanied war zone like explosions. If I find this distressing, what about people with PTSD, or refugees who have fled actual war zones or terrified animals and, of course fire danger that impacts everyone. I grew up in an area where private use of fireworks was not allowed and we still managed to have enjoyable celebrations of the 4th of July. I would be overjoyed if the Commissioners chose this time to move forward for a county wide ban on private fireworks such as in effect in Port Townsend. You would have my strong support as well as that of most people I know. It would be a great relief to not have to worry about my house burning down every 4th of July. Respectively, Carol Baker 91 E Maude St. Irondale
