HomeMy WebLinkAbout071323 FW_ Jefferson Co Department of Community Development New Database questions- ________________________________ From: Sally Ellis Sent: Thursday, July 13, 2023 11:40:06 AM (UTC-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada) To: Kate Dean; Heidi Eisenhour; Greg Brotherton Subject: Jefferson Co Department of Community Development New Database questions- ________________________________ ALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. ________________________________ Good day County Commissioner' I am writing to you all today, in hopes that you can help not only the struggling Jefferson CO DCD office, but all other departments within Jefferson CO that receive development permits- as well as the Citizen and Companies that submit development permits When the new database went live- We the citizens and businesses that work with each Department - Can no longer see or watch our pending permits online. The only way we can check on a permit is to call or go to the office the permit was submitted too and request an update on that pending permit. I understand that the new Database is not as user friendly as we all hoped it would be- and that it has more then a few kinks to work out. I am writing you all today, in hopes that you can resolve whatever issue is going on with this new database and the company that this new database was purchased from- It is very important and would be so helpful if we could track and watch our permits online. I also believe this could be a very ugly situation for Jefferson Co as a whole- as I am sure there is some type of legal law that states, county and city offices that receive permits are to be transparent and allow citizens and property owners as well as the business that submit these permits to watch them online. I am sure this is some kind of budget issue, and maybe we did pay for all the bells and whistles of that new database- I wanted to remind you all that the County has been taking in a 5% tech fee on all permits to support this new database and pay for all new updates etc- so we do not end up in the same situations we did with the old database (trademark) I do hope you all will take this email seriously and will do whatever you can to support each Department and put some pressure on the new database team that is working hard to get this new database live and to work properly to make this new database live so we all can see and watch our pending development permits online, vs. calling each Department and only making more work for them in the end. Thank you in advance for your time and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Respectfully Sally l Ellis Permit Consultant 360-531-3374
