Folks from around the area were invited including potential homebuyers, prospective donors, existing donors, neighbors, city and county officials, and local housing advocates. It was a great way to connect people to our vision and explain the CLT model, all while enjoying sunshine and cookies. As you likely know, this project will result in five permanently affordable new homes for folks who earn good money but couldn't otherwise afford to buy. Amazingly, and in partnership with the Food Bank Growers, we will ensure that these homes have open space right next door, where the existing community garden will continue to provide delicious food security. We hope that it's clear that we want to build housing that people are thrilled to see. To meet our funding goals, we're aiming to raise $12,500 by the end of July to keep us on track of raising $200,00 in local contributions by December 31. Our outreach manager, Kellen Lynch <mailto:kellen.lynch@outlook.com> , is leading the effort to connect dollars to Dundee Hill. With local contributions and grants, we've raised over $350,000 in contributions to support Dundee, including $30,000 we recently secured from a private foundation. This is your chance to be part of our flagship project to build permanently affordable housing in Port Townsend. Are you in? Whew, here we go: We are proud to announce that we've entered into a partnership with the one, the only Jefferson Land Trust with the goal to explore the potential of an incredible parcel of land in Chimacum. While not a new project in general, the Chimacum Commons project is being pursued by both organizations with the mutual understanding that, collectively, we must secure affordable housing and habitat and farmland in perpetuity. This project is seeking input from food industry workers in particular, due to the acute need for farm worker housing. We attended the first two Chimacum Farmers Markets this year and multiple of the PT Farmers Market. We've been out and about tabling up a storm and having excellent conversations at each event - which is a dang delight as tabling can be a dreary affair. We've found that people WANT to talk housing which works for us! We've also been selling beautiful, handcrafted bird houses as a way to generate interest and promote our memberships. Every birdhouse sold is another membership and home for your local feathered friend.
