HOUSING FUND BOARD
Special Meeting — Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
Commissioners' Chambers, Jefferson County Courthouse
1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend, WA 98368 (Hybrid)
CALL TO ORDER: Jefferson County Commissioner Greg Brotherton called the Joint Jefferson
County/City of Port Townsend Housing Fund Board(HFB) to order. The following HFB members
participated in the meeting: HFB Chair Greg Brotherton, City of Port Townsend Councilmember Vice
Chair Amy Howard, City of Port Townsend Councilmember Aislinn Palmer, and Member Julia
Cochrane.
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: Chair Brotherton called for public comments, and no comments were
received.
DISCUSSION re: Homeless Shelter Closure: HFB members discussed the cost to keep the American
Legion Adult Shelter open throughout the summer. After Discussion Member Palmer moved to award a
total of$40,000 from Fund 148 to OlyCAP for the purpose of operating the shelter. Chair Brotherton
clarified this will go to the Board of County Commissioners for approval first, and this is a
recommendation. Member Cochrane seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Staff notice after the meeting that the requested funds should be from Fund 149, Homeless Housing.
When prepped for the Board of Commissioners to review, the request of$40,000 is to be funded from
Fund 149.
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: Chair Brotherton called for public comments, and one was received.
Next Steps/Closing Remarks: Vice Chair Howard stated this was urgent, but would like to be better
prepared on emergent funding moving forward.
NOTICE OF ADJOURNMENT: Chair Brotherton adjourned the meeting at 1:22 p.m. until the next
regular meeting or special meeting as properly noticed.
