Subject: A Resolution to Update the Official County Road Log
for Fremont Road - County Road #301709
Statement of Issue:
The Board is asked to sign a resolution to update the official County Road Log for
Fremont Avenue to correctly reflect the actual length maintained by the County. This
will change the length from 0.42 miles to 0.23 miles. The County has not performed
maintenance beyond mile post 0.23 for many years. This is a dead-end road segment
with no residential units. Furthermore, this road segment will become obsolete with
the upcoming replacement of the Linger Longer Road Bridge. This action does not
vacate any road right-of-way, but simply reflects what is actually being maintained by
the County.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's Et Con's:
Making corrections to keep the official County Road Log current helps to avoid
maintenance confusion.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis:
The motor vehicle tax distribution formula is based in part on the miles of roads listed
in the official County Road Log; therefore, it is important to keep the Road Log
accurate and up to date.
Recommendation:
Department of Public Works recommends that the Board approve updating the Official
County Road Log length of Fremont Avenue by signing the attached Resolution.

The Official County Road Log } RESOLUTION NO.
Fremont Avenue,#301709 }
WHEREAS,the official County Road Log lists the length of Fremont Avenue as 0.42 miles;and
WHEREAS,County Road maintenance currently ends at milepost 0.23;and
WHEREAS, Fremont Avenue beyond milepost 0.23 does not provide for area circulation for the traveling
public or for public access to water,and
WHEREAS,public road funds shall not be expended on roads not accessible to the general public;and
WHEREAS,it is in the best interest of the County to maintain accurate records and to adjust the official Road
Log to avoid confusion in the future;and
WHEREAS,removing this segment from the official County Road Log does not vacate any right of way that
may exist but simply updates the Road Log to reflect what is and will be maintained by the County,
NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that the official County Road Log shall be adjusted to show that
Fremont Avenue ends at milepost 0.23.
