HomeMy WebLinkAbout081723 RE_ Jefferson County Building PermitsHello,
My name is Jackie Campus, a property owner in Port Hadlock area currently waiting on building permit for a manufactured home (replacement) since the latter part of March of this year.
I understand there is a staff shortage and a new director of the Dept. Of Community Development, also new staff in training but it has been 5 months going on 6, since my permit was
submitted and I have paid all fees, was told to get a septic design which was done and paid for. At one point I was "assigned" to a land planner apparently, but was told that employee
left. Now I do not know where my permit stands and I have called multiple times try to see where my permit stands only to get voice-mail and then no call back response whatsoever. Also
I paid a permit runner, Sally Ellis who use to work for the DCD and she has sent multiple emails to find out what the status is for myself and also her other clients but she does not
get a response either. It seems to me that there should be someone at the DCD who could respond to our inquiries as to what our permit status is?? No response at all in my opinion isn't
the right way to run a county office. I do understand there are new protocols place and new people in that department but really there should be someone in place that can answer our
inquiries at the least? I watched one of your County Commisioner meetings online and listened to the new director of DCD and he made it sound like things are moving along, new people
are getting trained, etc. But for those of us who are waiting for permits it doesn't seem like much progress at all has been made. I am a 65 year old woman, living in a 26ft. trailer
(with no air conditioning no less) on my property waiting for my replacement manufactured home permit which will be my retirement home, which I thought would only take 3 or 4 months
at the most. Mine seems like it should be a simple basic permit application since there are no wetlands on my property, I am putting a smaller manufactured home on a previous pad, septic
is in and septic design submitted, my property deed was submitted a while ago for the LLOR. It should be pretty straightforward. Myself, I would just like to get a response (or a response
to my permit runner's emails ) from the DCD. I don't know if any of you can possibly help with that? It would be greatly appreciated to have someone from the DCD who can respond to
emails at the least to let us know where our permits stand.
Thank you for reading,I will look forward to your response.
Thank you,
Jackie Campus
