Position may include some evenings and weekends Salary and Benefits: Benefits include paid time off, holiday, medical, dental and vision. Starting compensation will be dependent upon experience and range between $40,000 and $50,000 per year. The Maintenance Specialist supports HCSEG’s mission by making sure the Salmon Center facility is maintained and that equipment and vehicles are in safe and functional condition. The position is responsible for grounds, vehicle and equipment maintenance. The Maintenance Specialist will work with the Executive Director and other HCSEG staff to prepare for special events and activities on our 38 acre certified organic farm and public open spaces so that the site promotes HCSEG’s mission and goals. They will also plan and develop nutrition and garden education programs for youth in local schools, as well as for our 4-H club and summer camp program, Farm Stewards. This will include classroom based education as well as implementing experiential learning projects outdoors. The Sustainability Coordinator will also support our U-Pick community garden through volunteer recruitment and management, as well as community-wide workshops and outreach. They will also collaborate with staff and volunteers to plant, maintain, and harvest our food gardens and care for our 4-H farm animals. Sustainability Coordinator provides members of our P-Patch garden (which includes annually-leased garden beds) resources and support. You will also have opportunities to engage in other project areas at HCSEG, including research projects and habitat restoration! LEARN MORE / APPLY <https://pnwsalmoncenter.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2a7683d2876c28aaa03c107dd&id=c8f1ea878b&e=7b142fb1ac> Environmental Educator Environmental Educators will improve and implement the Salmon in the Classroom through presentations that focus on teaching local students about a salmon's life cycle, as well as carry out the end of program release events for each school. Throughout the entire term, educators will implement public interpretation at the Salmon Center and Theler Wetlands Exhibit Center and trail systems. Members will assist with the coordination and implementation of the Students in the Watershed program, including teaching high school aged students about the environment and natural resources. Throughout the summer, members will help carry out multiple summer camp offerings, including the Explore the Fjord and Farm Stewards programs. While mostly off site with Explore the Fjord, members will transport, educate and supervise the campers throughout their days in the field. Educators will help with occasional outreach events throughout the Hood Canal watershed, and on site events throughout their term.
