HomeMy WebLinkAbout082723 Chimacum Drainage District Hello all: Some institutional knowledge for you regarding the Chimacum Drainage District. The prior district became inactive in either 1962 or 1952. I am thinking 1962. Back between 2000-2006 (before Jack Westerman retired) I viewed some amazing ARCHIVAL maps on thick mylar showing the farms and the ownership of those farms that were part of the prior Drainage District. I love old maps and was in complete geek dom heaven about thes archival maps. There were several such mylars. I saw these maps only because Auditor Eldridge wanted to cancel out the account for the prior Chimacum Drainage District, which at the time still had a positive balance of about $2,500 and asked me for legal advice. And Jack Westerman pulled out these maps. The funds went to some other bucket of county money, so they didn't disappear. IMO these maps, once found, should be donated to the Jefferson County Historical Society. The BoCC might have to declare them surplus. I don't see how they have any "public record" purpose. And County Admin might have to decide how much time to spend looking for these maps. Sherri Shold, if not retired, would be a good person to start with. Brenda H. might have some knowledge of them too. David Alvarez
