To whom it may concern,
This letter is in support of Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County's application for Affordability
Subsidy funding from the Washington State Dept. of Commerce Housing Trust Fund.
We have partnered with Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County to support their work to build
affordable housing for low-income homeowners. In areas of East Jefferson County where home
construction is precluded by lack of infrastructure, specifically in the Brinnon and Quilcene areas of the
county, we support Habitat's critical-repair program for low- and very low-income homeowners.
Beginning in 2020, Habitat EJC has successfully applied and been awarded funding via the Affordable
Housing Funds ("148 Funds"or document recording fees) administered by Jefferson County through the
Joint Jefferson County/City of Port Townsend Housing Fund Board. To date, the Board of Jefferson
County Commissioners has committed $170,000 from 148 Funds to Habitat EJC for their critical-repair
program, and $27,000 to support infrastructure work on their permanently affordable multi-housing
project in Port Townsend (1705, 1733, 1749,1757, 1773, and 1785 Landes St, also known as"Landes
North").
Additionally, the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to have committed
$580,000 of ARPA funds allocated to the County towards the purchase of 17 acres of land in Port
Hadlock-Irondale ($500,000) and for the master-planning work ($80,000). We anticipate this
development will result in a significant addition of permanently affordable low- and middle-income
housing in unincorporated Jefferson County.
Funding Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County is a worthwhile investment to improve the
health and wellbeing of our residents and in the preservation of our community's housing stock.
Thank you for your consideration of this important project within our community.
Sincerely,
an_ t C" .
