HomeMy WebLinkAbout090423 Local Animal Shelter Unfunded_Dear Folks,
It has come to my attention that there is an animal shelter in Jefferson County that is receiving no city and no county funding. Please consider taking a serious look at this, as animal
shelters provide a service to the community and to lost and scared and abandoned pets.
Any animal shelter can provide you with wonderful stories of lost pets being reunited with their people. These shelters also do their best to care for wounded pets that come in, they
generally can provide the pets of pet owners with microchips for ID-ing, spaying and neutering services, all pet vaccinations, generally with lower fees that at regular veterinary businesses.
Medical supplies are very expensive. Though volunteers can include board certified veterinarians and board certified veterinarian techs, staffing remains essential. Please remember
that this is also a service that is partially funded through city and county taxes, in other words, taxpayers in your county will mostly be believing this is something there taxes at
least in part are going to, and would be astounded to find out none of it is.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Fitzpatrick, kmffgf@frontier.com
