Chimacum/Port Ludlow 9am - Set up begins 2pm - Song Circle with Brooke Hatch & friends! $13 per person, kids are free. Additional $10 per booth/ tailgate/table space Pay cash upon arrival. This is a family friendly event! Join us in an open air market setting, in the spirit of bartering. Please arrive with a willingness to trade with folks, that's the encouraged from of currency for this gathering. Cash is a great trade item, come along if it's what you've got to barter! Bring your produce, fresh baked treats, art, potions, second hand goodies, books, tools, clothes, plants, gift certificates from your business or whatever else you have to share and let's strengthen our connections through interactive exchange! There will be tea service, but no prepared food on site~ bring along a picnic & enjoy the lawn games! No dogs, this is a working farm with animals. Our Aronia bushes are producing hundreds of pounds of Aronia berries this year! Aronia is a fantastic anti-oxidant fruit. One of the best in the world, even better than Acai fruit. Aronia fruit is great in smoothies and they can be used in many kinds of beverages and products. We haven’t been able to find enough of a local market this year, so are willing to ship them anywhere in the USA. We can ship them fresh now and beyond that we are putting lots in the freezer and can ship them frozen. Fresh Price (5 pounds minimum order): 5 to 25 pounds is $6 a pound 25 to 50 pounds is $5 a pound 50 pounds + is $4 a pound U-pick price is $5 pound. Fill out Berry Interest form on website. Teaming up with Lindy Dewey of SpiritWorks Herb Farm, a certified organic farm that cultivates and wildcrafts over 150 herbs. The plantings incorporates permaculture principles, companion planting, and diverse herb garden design concepts, including a 63 foot herbal triskelion mandala that holds the energetics of the farm - learning, farming and building health. We need something like 200 pounds of the fresh walnut with hull this year. We take the hull off before selling it, both fresh and dry hulls. There is a sweet spot period for taking the hulls off. This is usually shortly after when the first of the nuts start dropping. At that time we can pick everything off the tree we can reach with a ladder, plus shake some limbs to dislodge nuts higher up. If we wait till all the nuts have dropped they get mushy and that is no good. Plus if they sit on the ground for a long period of time, they tend to get mold on them. If we pick too early it is hard to cut the hull off. It is right when you can quarter the hull with a sharp knife and the pieces pop off easily. I know where 4 or 5 black walnut trees are in Port Townsend, but many trees only put on a good crop every 4 years or so. Those are called mast years. In 2022, one of the trees I have been watching had a big crop for the first time in 6 years. Some trees are more frequent. If you know any black walnut trees, let us know. Anywhere in Jefferson, Clallam or Kitsap counties ALSO looking for black walnut trees in Okanogan and Chelan counties. We’d like to know where they are for future years even if they don’t have a good crop on this year. If you see any trees with good crops on this year, we’d love to hear from you. If they are on private property than we also wish to obtain permission. We pay 10% of the value for permission.
