HomeMy WebLinkAbout090623 Tammy L Hanks PHdGood morning. It has come to our attention that you’ve let go of the Director for the shelter on Critter Lane. Someone has made a grievous mistake and that mistake needs to be re-examined. As a Director/manager/employee of multiple departments for major healthcare organizations (Only to say we recognize excellence in a director) we can tell you that the loss of Tammy is going to be felt acutely by this poor, inadequately funded shelter. Rarely have we seen someone as dedicated as Tammy and the work she has done to try and get resources for the shelter has been unbelievable. She’s there on the off weekends and off hours (I’m sure it’s unpaid time, correct?) She encourages all the volunteers and staff to create publicity for the shelter and the animals; she has organized monthly meetings for the volunteers to create value and support . If Tammy did nothing else but write grants, requesting money for the organization-she’d be invaluable, you are going to be hard-pressed to find another qualified replacement. However, she does a lot more than write grants. She is tireless in her commitment to stepping in where she’s needed; a rare trait. Please reconsider. Don’t let this happen to a shelter that is already sadly lacking. Are you aware of the fact the community is (At least partially)funding food for the animals? The enclosures are all manually opened and closed. Feeding/watering is all by hand. Washing is in a large bathtub that is used for multiple purposes? When the power goes out those animals are just out of luck for heat and electricity? I cannot imagine the hardships for medical staff. Again, please reconsider. Dawn A.
