WSAC is preparing another exciting training opportunity for you!
Register now to attend the Planning 101 training series on October 25th and 26th, 2023, at the Olympia Hotel at Capitol Lake. This training is administered by WSAC with financial assistance
from the Department of Commerce and is provided at no cost to attendees. Meals will also be covered during the training program. Your only expense will be for overnight accommodations
if needed. We can provide reimbursement of $100 per attendee for travel/hotel.
The mandatory comprehensive land use plan update cycle begins in 2024. Updates are required by all counties, including those planning under the state’s Growth Management Act and those
that do not. It is a major undertaking for every county and will require a significant portion of your time in the coming years.
The Planning 101 training series will prepare you, as an elected member of your county’s legislative authority, for your role in the update process. It will help you understand the
statewide planning framework, a county’s responsibilities within that system, what is required in a local comprehensive land use plan, and what to expect as the process unfolds.
If this will be the first time you’ve been through a comprehensive land use plan update cycle, you need this training. If it’s not your first time, there are many changes and additions
to planning requirements since the last update cycle that you need to know about!
