Operation Green Light for Veterans 2023 – Rachel Mackey
* NACo and NACVSO have relaunched the Operation Green Light for Veterans campaign
* We are inviting the nation’s 3,069 counties, parishes, and boroughs to join Operation Green Light and show support for veterans by lighting our buildings green from November 6-12.
By shining a green light, county governments and our residents will let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated and supported
* Rachel Mackey will give an overview of the campaign, including our updated landing page, refreshed outreach and advocacy materials and more
MIEP Advocacy- Blaire Bryant
* Now that Congress is back in session, negotiations on key MIEP bills, which include the Reentry Act (H.R.2400/S.1165) and the Due Process Continuity of Care Act (H.R. 3074/S.971) continue
* NACo is urging members to contact their U.S. Representatives and Senators to support the inclusion of two important bipartisan bills that would address the federal Medicaid Inmate
Exclusion Policy (MIEP) in a comprehensive behavioral health package of bills, or an end of year package
* NACo staff will provide an overview of these two bills, the legislative outlook, and ways that counties can continue to engage their Representatives and Senators in advocacy

* What is the role of counties in addressing the growing housing affordability crisis? In the last year, the NACo Housing Task Force met with intergovernmental partners, private sector
leaders and housing policy experts to answer this question. Through this work, the task force developed a comprehensive best practice and policy guide identifying evidence-based solutions
