Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Thank you, Mayor Faber, for the comments back. I believe the CAC is aware of the challenge of balancing the need for affordable housing, increased density, and tree canopy, as is noted in the CAC Urban Forestry letter. And we are very fortunate that as you likely have heard, the City was successful in applying for grant funds to develop an Urban Forestry Plan! That grant application specifically noted "Development of an Urban Forestry Plan and an update of our Tree Conservation Code can go hand in hand with our new zoning code changes to serve those who need equitable housing without disparity of environment.” The CAC Forest Working group commends the city for applying for the funds, and looks forward to assisting the City on the development of the plan. The City will be discussing the potential of increased densities during our coming Comprehensive Plan Update. We also have the tree ordinance on our list of topics for consideration and potential future action. I cannot speak for my colleagues as to either proposal, so speaking for myself, my support of any planned changes to our urban forestry/tree ordinance would hinge on it not materially increasing expenses or making housing construction more complicated or difficult. I'm curious what specifics the CAC has in mind, and whether the expansion of our tree ordinance proposal has been squared with the CAC's proposal for increased urban densities. Thank you. One is regarding increased density as a method to reduce green house gas emissions. The other has to do with developing an Urban Forestry Plan with potentially many benefits. Thank you for your consideration. Respectfully, Kees Kolff, Chair, Climate Action Committee Cindy Jayne, Chair, CAC Vehicle Miles Traveled Working Group CAUTION: External Email CAUTION: External Email
