It's been wonderful to see Parrington Hall bustling with new and returning students. At our recent Evans Community Connect — a gathering of incoming and returning students, faculty and staff — we had great conversations about our approach to public policy education and the public good as well as what might happen in the coming year as we lean into our shared values. This fall, we are entering an important time for our democracy. Over the weekend we narrowly averted a federal government shut down. Too many people lack faith in our election system. Civic discourse is missing from so many conversations. But there’s hope. Seeing the energy that the Evans community brings to our work brings me joy. From our students and alumni, to our faculty and staff – we are all part of the solution. Jodi Sandfort, Dean & Professor COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT Channing Nesbit, MPA '20 We recently connected with Evans alum Channing Nesbit, who shared about his path from student-athlete on the Husky baseball team to pursuing an MPA at Evans. He also shared about his journey after Evans to the tech social impact sector, and more recently, to the social venture space with Salesforce Ventures and how his experience at Evans has shaped his commitment to equity. Participants learned hands on and participatory methods to explore powerful questions about both their personal leadership and goals for conversations that matter in their work and communities.
