HomeMy WebLinkAboutM0430191820 Jefferson Street cad 4g0N cow PO Box 1220 a w� G Port Townsend, WA 98368 Dennis Cowan, Member Ken Przygocki, Member Robert Gebo, Chairman Steve Richmond, Chief Examiner CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES April 30, 2019 Chairman Bob Gebo called the meeting to order at 2:04 p.m. in the presence of Commissioner Dennis Cowan and Chief Examiner Steve Richmond. Commissioner Ken Przygocki was in attendance by phone. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Dennis Cowan moved to approve the minutes of January 29, 2019 as presented. Commissioner Przygocki seconded the motion. The Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS REVIEW OF CORRESPONDENCE re: Entry Patrol Eligibility List (Accepted) • Email Correspondence from Sergeant Andy Pernsteiner updating status on Candidates, Interviews conducted, pending offers and status the Eligibility List has 2 Candidates remaining. REVIEW AND DISCUSSION re: Minimal Passing Score (Accepted) • Discussion ensued regarding the minimal passing score for promotional examinations. Chief Examiner Steve Richmond gave review of change from 75% to 70% as that is the state standard. REVIEW AND DISCUSSION OF ELIGIBILITY LISTS AD TESTING SCHEDULES re: • Animal Services Officer — Chief Examiner Steve Richmond gave an update that Sheriff Nole is working on rewriting the job description, he wants to get it approved by the Union and thru Human Resources and would like to add required Law Enforcement credentials. Sheriff Nole will work with Chief Examiner Richmond to create an examination and estimates this portion being back in active status sometime in 2020. • Corrections Sergeant — Chairman Gebo gave a review on the April 27, 2019 examination and eligibility process that took place. A competitive eligibility list was created with 3 candidates with passing scores to be raked and 2 candidates with failing scores. The Board was pleased with the outcome and the examination Public Safety Testing provided. • Patrol Sergeant - Chief Examiner Steve Richmond spoke to the point with pending promotions within the Sheriff's Office, the existing list will be exhausted. The Board discussed testing options and the current pricing of Public Safety Testing. Secretary Shannon and Chairman Gebo spoke of requesting a budget appropriation to fund continued testing. Chief Examiner Steve Richmond volunteered to speak to the Sheriff and other agencies to see if other companies or other forms of testing are being used that might be more adorable. A report will be given at the next meeting. NEW BUSINESS There was no new business. NOTICE OF ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Gebo moved to adjourn the meeting at 2:45 p.m. Commissioner Cowan seconded the motion. The Motion carried. NEXT MEETING: May 28, 2019 or a Special Meeting if properly noticed pursuant to RCW 42.30.080.
