CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES
February 27, 2018
Commissioner Dennis Cowan called the meeting to order at 2:07 p.m. in the presence of
Commissioner Ken Przygocki. Chairman Bob Gebo attended by phone.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Przygocki moved to approve the minutes of
January 30, 2018 as presented. Commissioner Cowan seconded the motion which carried by
unanimous vote.

NEW BUSINESS
HEARING re: Proposed amendment to the Civil Service Rules, RULE 4. — CLASSIFICATION;
Section 2. Classification Schedule (1) c. addition of Control Room Operator. After holding a
hearing, Commissioner Przygocki moved to approve the addition of the classification of Control
Room Operator to the Civil Service Rules. Commissioner Cowan seconded the motion which
carried by unanimous vote
INTERVIEWS re: Chief Examiner Vacancy: The following were interviewed for the position of
Chief Examiner: Steve Richmond, Alex Mintz and Susan Grantham.
An Executive Session was scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. with the Civil Service
Commission and Secretary Shannon re: Personnel; Exemption as Outlined in the Open Public
Meetings Act, RCW 42.30.110(1)(g); No discussion of Salaries, Wages, and Other Conditions of
Employment to be Generally Applied within the County; and, No Final Action on the Hiring,
Setting the Salary of an Individual Employee or Class of Employees, or Discharging or
Disciplining an Employee. The actual period of time the Board met in Executive Session on this
topic was 3:07 p.m. to 3:37 p.m. At the conclusion of the Executive Session the Board resumed
the regular meeting.
APPOINTMENT re: Chief Examiner: Commissioner Cowan moved to appoint Steve Richmond
as Chief Examiner. Chairman Gebo seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote.
NOTICE OF ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Cowan moved to adjourn the meeting at 3:44
p.m. Chairman Gebo seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote.
NEXT MEETING: March 27, 2018 or a Special Meeting if properly noticed pursuant to RCW
42.30.080.
