CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES
June 27, 2017
Chairman Bob Gebo called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. in the presence of Commissioner Dennis
Cowan, Commissioner Ken Przygocki and Chief Examiner Ken Swanson. Sheriff David Stanko was also
in attendance.
Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Cowan moved to approve the minutes of May 30, 2017 as
presented. Commissioner Przygocki seconded the motion, which carried to a unanimous vote.
OLD BUSINESS
Discussion re: Corrections Sergeant Examination to establish the Eligibility List: Secretary Shannon gave
an update to the Board on the Correction Sergeants Examination being prepared by Public Safety Testing.
The examination is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Chimacum Fire Station.
The Board discussed the weighting for scoring of the written exam and the oral interview scoring.
Chairman Gebo stated that in the past the scoring has been 60/40. Sheriff Stanko the scoring be weighted
40/60 with the oral interview score given more value. The Board will revisit this issue at a future meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
Discussion re: Sheriff's Office Staffing Needs: Sheriff Stanko gave a brief review of the current staffing
needs and requirements. He requested the Civil Service Commission assist him in speaking to the Board
of County Commissioners regarding the need for additional staff for the Jail and Patrol. Sheriff Stanko
updated the Commission on the status of the Administrative Clerk eligibility list and if the current list is
exhausted, it is critical that a new list be established as soon as possible.

Notice of Adiournment: Commissioner Cowan moved to adjourn the meeting at 2:55 p.m. Chairman
Gebo seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote.
Next Meeting: July 25, 2017 or a Special Meeting if properly noticed pursuant to RCW 42.30.080.
