REGULAR BUSINESS 3. Presentation of Proposed Amendments to Shoreline Master Program Periodic Review (BERK). o Brief PowerPoint presentation of key issues by Lisa Grueter from BERK. Please be aware that the public comment period is three minutes. 3 o GENERAL UPDATES 6. Planning Commission Updates (10 minutes) o Commissioner Nilssen update on district 3 outreach meeting i. Need more PC meetings in district 3 in the future ii. Increased DCD and PC presence in district 3 iii. Improved sharing of information and support for community involvement from DCD iv. David Wayne Johnson has a list of community leaders that could help share information with community members v. Submission of memorandum o Budget letter. Decision to submit letter to BoCC. Motion to approve letter put forth by Commissioner Hull and seconded by Commissioner Coker. 7-0 vote to approve letter. 7. DCD Staff and Director Updates (5 minutes) a. Director Updates i. DCD/BoCC budget presentation at 9:30am 10/9 ii. DCD staffing updates b. SDR Update i. 450 total SDRs ii. 300 completed SDRs iii. 40 SDRs in various stages of review iv. 110-130 SDRs in the queue v. Atwell Group, current planning consulting firm brought on to assist with SDR backlog. Current production rate of 10+ completed SDRs per week. c. Update on PC vacancies i. Interviews were conducted by Joel Peterson and Commissioner Dean for District 1, and Commissioner Eisenhour for District 2. ii. One candidate withdrew from the district 1 applicant pool, leaving one applicant for each district. iii. Due to scheduling issues, the BoCC will deliberate on Monday, October 16 and at that time may appoint the applicants to the district 1 and District 2 vacant seats. d. Update on PC Retreat Planning. Check calendars for Saturday, January 13, 2024 i. January 13 is no longer the proposed date for the planning retreat. The new proposed date is January 20 ii. Once the new planning Commissioners are appointed, DCD will begin polling the Commissioners for their availability on Saturday January 20th between 9:00am and 4:00pm. e. Laserfiche password: username & password is ‘public’. Step taken to avoid “bot” interference. f. Update on Proposed Schedule for Upcoming PC Meetings: i. October 18 – PC deliberation & recommendations on SMP ii. October 25? November 8 -- special meeting for PC deliberation & recommendations on 2023 Comprehensive Plan amendments v.
