A team that includes Hannah Linden, MD, at Fred Hutch and UW Medicine, has discovered that one of these agents, called FES-PET, can help “light up” recurring tumors that contain a targetable
weakness. Dr. Linden’s research was critical to winning FDA approval of FES-PET for patients with metastatic breast cancer. Now, using data from patients enrolled in those studies,
they have launched new trials to understand the best course of treatment for patients in whom the FES-PET “lights up” more compared to those in whom it “lights up” less.
Additionally, Dr. Linden’s team is studying the use of FES to guide treatment for an infiltrating lobular breast cancer.
As Dr. Linden shared with us, “There’s a lot more to understand about the FES tracer’s utility for patients.”
