HomeMy WebLinkAboutPlanning Commission Reappointments Regular Agenda JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST TO: Board of County Commissioners Mark McCauley, County Administrator FROM: Josh Peters, Director, Community Development Joel Peterson,Associate Planner, Community Development DATE: OCt e 13( `U) 23 SUBJECT: DISCUSSION AND POTENTIAL ACTION re: Consideration and Recommendation; Two (2) ADVISORY BOARD REAPPOINTMENTS re: Jefferson County Planning Commission; District 1 seat with unexpired term to March 17, 2024, and District 2 seat with unexpired term to March 17, 2026. ADDITIONAL PUBLIC COMMENT STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Interviews have been conducted to fill two vacant seats on the nine-member Jefferson County Planning Commission. Appointees filling these seats will complete the remainder of the unexpired terms, then be eligible for reappointment to a full four-year term. The unexpired term of the District 1 seat runs to March 17, 2024, and the unexpired term of the District 2 seat runs to March 17, 2026. Three (3) applicants were interviewed for the District 1 seat and one (1) applicant interviewed for the District 2 seat. One District 1 applicant withdrew their application. The Board may appoint one of the two applicants to the District 1 seat and the applicant to the District 2 seat. ANALYSIS: The Planning Commission vacancies have been advertised in the County's paper of record and interviews have been conducted with the resulting applicants. All interviews have included the respective Commissioner of each district. Final selection and appointment to the Planning Commission are made by the full Board. Three applications for those being considered are attached. District 1: Ahren Stroming, Amy Hiatt; District 2: Mike Shultz. RECOMMENDATION: Appoint two new volunteers, one to each of the open Planning Commission seats in District 1 and District 2.
