You are ordered to perform the following described work upon receipt of an approved copy of this change order:
This change order will make the following changes to the contract:
1. In accordance with the WSDOT Standard Specifications Section 1-10 Temporary
Traffic Control, add the bid item "Flaggers", per hour to the contract.
The unit price shall be$74.00 per hour, and the estimated quantity is 30 hours.
Therefore, the total cost for this change is ($74.00/hr) X (30 hr) = $2,220.00
2. Revise the guardrail plans as shown on the attached "Roadway Plan and Profile" sheet,
and as follows:
Delete 131.25 LF of"Beam Guardrail Type 31" and replace with 131.25
LF of"Beam Guardrail Type 31 -8 Ft. Long Post". There is no cost
associated with this change.
Delete the"Beam Guardrail Type 31 Non-Flared Terminal" located at
Station 13+59.00, 15.60 Lt. and replace with a "Beam Guardrail Type 31
Buried Terminal Type 2".
The total cost for this change is a lump sum amount of
$1,080.00 for additional freight charges.
The total change in cost for this change order is $2,220.00 + $1,080.00 = $3,300.00
All work materials and measurement to be in accordance with the provisions of the standard specifications and
special provisions for the type of construction involved.

Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's Et Cons: Change Order No. 1 adds the bid item
Flagger, and a lump sum amount for re-ordering of guardrail items requested by the
County.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: Change Order No. 1 will increase the contract
amount by $3,300.00, from $1,092,394.00 to $1,095,694.00. However, due to
underruns on various bid items, the contract will be completed for approximately
$29,000 less than the original contract amount. Project construction is funded at
87.5% by a FEMA Hazard Mitigation grant and 12.5% by a Public Works Board
Construction Loan.
Recommendation: Public Works recommends that the Board authorize Change Order
No. 1 with Bruch and Bruch Construction, Inc., and return two originals to Public
Works.
