Good afternoon,
I’m sharing an update that has also been sent to legislators, Ferry Advisory Committee members and WSF staff.
To increase reliability, our customers’ core request, we are reorganizing internal shift assignments to better ensure we can fill relief requests. There will be no reduction in the
number of crew employees. Beginning with the winter schedule (December 31, 2023), WSF has made the decision to suspend and reorganize crews on three watches for at least the Winter
2024 season. This reorganization does not have any effect on current sailing schedules or our timeline for restoring service on remaining routes, but gives us additional crew to stabilize
service across the system.
When we have the crewing and vessels necessary for additional service, we will operate our already announced unscheduled supplemental third boat service on the Triangle route. We’re
also working on an update to our Service Contingency/Restoration Plan, looking at both crewing and vessel availability, which we’ll share with the public by the end of December.
Please let me know if you have questions or concerns.
Best,
Hadley
