Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Greetings Please review the attached document I received from the County Treasurer. Note that on that on the 12 months ending June 2023, County sales tax receipts from Construction represented over $1.3 million dollars and 29% of all sales tax revenues. With those numbers: * Why is it that DCD has to nickel and dime people with fees just for talking to them? * Why is it that DCD has such a poor reputation for customer service? * Why is it the people I know who have had any interaction with DCD have story after story of delays? * Why is it that my architect told me Jefferson County was the worst place to build anything? I see from the current county budget that DCD currently runs a deficit: DCD Revenue (Fees, Permits, etc.) $1,878,160 Expenses $2,225,395 Deficit ($347,235) Even if all those expenses are justified, one might consider using at least some of that Construction related sales tax revenue to provide better DCD service. Who knows, if you actually do get a customer service oriented DCD you just might get more construction sales tax in the short term and more property tax revenues over time. Unless of course the whole purpose for allowing such poor service from DCD is to stifle construction in the County. May I have your opinion? David Neuenschwander 142 Old Lindsay Hill Rd.
