Greetings Planning Commissioners:
The County Administrator requests that you try again to reach a recommendation on the Shoreline Master Program (SMP). The Board of County Commissioners (Board) acknowledged this preference
during today’s Board meeting. Chair Hull and I have discussed and affirmed this idea, the consequence of which is to keep the regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission
on Wednesday, November 15, 5:30-7:30 PM.
As you know, part of the issue with the vote on November 1 was the absence of two Planning Commissioners. That, along with other factors, diminished the prospect of having a majority
of the Planning Commission agree on an SMP update proposal to the Board.
In that light, it is vital that we have a full complement of the Planning Commission at the next meeting. Please reply to this message to confirm that you are able to participate on
November 15.
Once I hear from each of you, I will confirm the meeting.
Meanwhile, the SMP consultants and DCD staff will collaborate with the objective of framing choices for you to consider at the next meeting for the remaining issues with which there
is lingering disagreement. My hope is that having all of you present and having options to vote on for specific items will help enable you to make a recommendation for Periodic Review
of the SMP.
