Dear Commissioners,
I read in this week's paper that the fancy proposed county pool is likely to wind up in Port Townsend due to lack of sewer facilities elsewhere... But Port Hadlock will soon enough
have sewer (hooray!). It would make so much more sense to put the pool there!
Arguments for locating the county pool in Port Hadlock:
- Centralized location for North AND South county residents. I live in Quilcene, which is at best a 45 minute drive each way to the PT YMCA. At that distance, my neighbors and I will
never use it.
- Coax PT residents out of the bubble!
- PT already has an (aging) pool. This would give the county two usable pools.
- Bring consumers to Port Hadlock to encourage its development.
- The pool would actually serve the county, rather than just Port Townsend.
Just look at a map, and you'll see that PT is the least practical place to locate a county resource.... about as practical as putting it at the bottom of the Coyle Peninsula. Please
consider a location that serves all county residents, not just the small population of PT. With the wonderful addition of a sewer system in the works, Port Hadlock is the ideal location.
