Streaming more Recovery for Salmon: RCO and SCC New Riparian Grant Programs

In 2022 the legislature appropriated funding to the WCC to develop and administer a Salmon Recovery Funding (SRF) Program. That program encouraged incentive-based projects with landowners
focusing on riparian restoration. In 2023, the Legislature extended those efforts by allocating additional funding to support salmon recovery through streamside riparian habitat restoration
and protection to both the SCC and the RCO. Both agencies have been working to develop these new Riparian Grants Program.
The SCC will share the progress they have made to date with developing programmatic guidelines through their advisory committee and how counties can review and engage in that process.
Similarly, the RCO will share the funding allocations and associated guidelines that the Salmon Recovery Funding Board recently adopted and will become available in the 2024 grant cycle.
Strategic Funding Team: Building Capacity and Connections
Jenn Grimm, Puget Sound Partnership, Strategic Funding Manager, will present on the newly formed Strategic Funding Team at the PSP. This team will provide support to tribes and local
partners to acquire funding for transformational, landscape-scale projects that advance regional and local priorities for implementing the Action Agenda. The SFT will support the efforts
of the recovery community to plan and act across sectors and geographies to align transportation, land use, habitat restoration and protection, agriculture, climate change mitigation,
flood hazard reduction, and stormwater infrastructure. This team will help tribes and partners respond to the influx of funding opportunities. The SFT will also strengthen the effectiveness
of investment decisions and help to address barriers to acquire and implement funding.
