Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Dear Jefferson County Commissioners, I am writing to ask for your support for a new pool in Jefferson County. As a senior citizen I have had three serious health conditions in the past five years and the ability to get exercise in a pool was crucial to my rehabilitation. Many elderly people I know from my regular exercise sessions in the pool live in the county, some from Hadlock and Quilcene. We all come to get exercise on a regular basis, but have also to enjoy social contact. Our ability to count on a working and adequate pool is key to our longevity and fitness. When I was a little girl I learned to swim at Adelma Beach. Although it was cold, it was the only option in the 1950's. Our current pool is on its last legs and our children will be at risk if we can't replace it because now even Adelma Beach is not available for kids to learn to swim. I hope that you aren't swayed by arguments about the location of the pool, as it has to do with water supply and plumbing more than any other consideration. There are negative voices out there, and they are loud. Most of them are swayed by a short sighted fitness center owner who fears competition if the pool adds an exercise center. If that's such a problem, don't include an exercise center in our pool complex. But, for the safety of the children and the health of the community I ask that you support the pool project. Thank you, Susan Uballe 2056 11th St. Port Townsend, WA 98368
