HomeMy WebLinkAboutCFCOC Cheryl Lowe November 11,2023 615 Sheridan Street (��n Port Townsend, WA 98368 www.JeffersonCountyPublicHealfh.org Public Health Consent Agenda JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST TO: Board of County Commissioners Mark McCauley, County Administrator FROM: Pinky Mingo, Environmental Health and Water Quality Director Tami Pokorny,Natural Resources Program Coordinator DATE: N Jv`ekb-er 70, 2 bZ�S SUBJECT: Request to appoint Cheryl Lowe to an initial 4-year term on the Conservation Futures Fund Citizen Oversight Committee to represent Habitat Values STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Public Health requests that the County Commissioners appoint Cheryl Lowe to the Conservation Futures Fund Citizen Oversight(CFFCO)Committee to represent the Habitat Values. ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS/PRO'S and COWS: Three vacancies on the CF Committee,one to represent District 2,one to represent District 3,and one to represent an Open Interest,were advertised in the Port Townsend Leader on September 6,2023. Ms. Lowe and Mr. Ehrlichman each responded to the ad prior the September 22,2023 deadline. They were the only two individuals to express interest in the seats at this time.On November 131,the program coordinator and two committee members interviewed Ms. Lowe in person. Ms. Lowe resides in Port Townsend and volunteers as a member of the Outreach Committee for the North Olympic Salmon Coalition(NOSC)and the Olympic Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society. She also volunteers regularly with the Food Bank and School Garden growing produce for those organizations. For 7 years,up until 2020,she was employed by WSU Extension as a water programs coordinator and provided administrative support to the Jefferson Marine Resources Committee as well as Stream Stewards and Beach Naturalists courses. Prior to that,Ms. Lowe was a land steward at Whidbey Camano Land Trust. Her formal education is in plant ecology and public garden administration. The interview committee recommends Ms. Low highly to serve a four-year term on the CFFOC Committee. FISCAL IWACT/COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS: There is no fiscal impact to the county's General Fund for appointing Ms. Lowe to a seat on the CFFOC.
