I live at 593 Prospect Ave, Port Townsend, WA 98368. I have been researching this boondoggle dream and push to build a new Taj Mahal style PT Pool, and cram more taxes on everyone, including
those of us that don't live in PT. The majority of people at these meetings say NO to this. We're fed up with We the People saying one thing and the City Council, and other minority
of citizens ignoring us!
Enough is enough! I'm fed up with being taxed to death! NO MORE! I've been attending meetings about this and can't believe the cost to us taxpayers! I've lived here over 30 years and
served PT as a Police Officer then business owner for 20 years after that. I've only been in that pool once in 30 years. By existing pool records, Only about 212 people use the pool,
out of 33000 citizens of Jefferson County. Are you kidding me?
Estimated cost over $60M counting the pool construction and operating costs? Over $21M in just interest? Are you serious? And we know those costs will go over estimates as usual. Why
are residents in the Tri-Area, Brinnon, Quilcene, Marrowstone, Discovery Bay areas always left out? How about West End residents who will be taxed for something they'll never use? Where
do you think attendees can come with an estimated $900 annual pass?
I'm voting NO on this for sure and will be speaking to everyone in my area. We already have County owned property in the Port Hadlock/Chimacum area that's paid for with new sewer and
infrastructure being built. Some near the Sheriff's Office and HJ Carroll Park, and the Library. I can support a SMALLER olympic style pool that the swim teams, kids and locals can
use. Why not go back to the drawing board to REDESIGN a more REASONABLY sized pool to be built at far LOWER COST that would serve us residents, more centrally in the County? We don't
need an amusement park style pool with water slides and public showers. We already have showers at the Port of PT that can be used for that. We all know, no matter what a handful of
people in power in PT wants, Urban Growth is now centered in the Tri-Area for the future.Tear down the old pool and fill it in. Put in some reasonably priced housing where a family
or citizens can afford to live? We don't want another Cherry Street fiasco passed on to us residents.
Start listening to us residents!
Respectfully,
Craig Lohner
