The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition is hiring a new Philanthropy Manager to advance our mission of creating a greener, healthier, more equitable, and better Washington for all through community outreach, network building, and advocacy for conservation and outdoor recreation funding. The Philanthropy Manager will partner with the Executive Director on establishing strategy and executing the Coalition’s fundraising efforts, including major gifts, corporate support, events, and grants. The role includes opportunities for implementing new ideas, as well as for increased responsibility and professional growth. These open spaces are used for passive recreation such as urban greenspaces, natural areas, forests, community gardens, farms, and trails. CFT funding is provided to governmental agencies and eligible nature conservancy or historic preservation nonprofits. Community groups or individuals can partner on projects with local agencies and eligible nonprofits. The application round for 2025 funding will open on November 6, 2023. Alpine Ascents International, in partnership with Edgeworks Climbing, created the Guide Development Program to increase the representation of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) individuals in the mountain guiding industry as well as the mountaineering world more broadly. Pierce County, in partnership with the Puget Community Cooperative Farmland Trust, used this grant to acquire three agricultural conservation easements on a historic 100-acre farm in the Puyallup River Valley. The landowner needed to sell all interest in the property, so the County and Trust found three farmers to purchase the underlying land, subject to the easements. This complicated transaction stands as an example of outstanding coordination and cooperation.
