Dear Jefferson County Commissioners,
I am a City of PT resident writing to implore you to vote in favor of a public pool in Jefferson County. There are many folks against this project, but I am quite confident that they
are not pool users, who young or old, benefit so greatly from this precious resource.
I am not going to repeat the reasons why we need a functioning pool because you’ve heard them all. I do want to remind you that, because it is in such decrepit condition, the pool historically
has had to close down for months at a time while looking for the needed part or while they manufacture a new one. This is very detrimental to not just us old folks, but to the young
families as well.
I am all in for a new pool even if it’s in a more central location in the county that also makes financial sense. What I don’t want to see is a vote that is already doomed by the naysayers
who are using the location as an excuse to vote against it because they just don’t want a new pool.
I can also live with a new pool/s that is not a “Taj Mahal”, but satisfies the needs of all types of swimmers. The bells and whistles can be considered down the road. Let’s just get
a functioning, reliable pool.
