Dear Heidi:
You may not know this but I came to Port Townsend from Maine, a competitive “Master Swimmer” but soon gave it up because the existing pool is only 19 yards long and too shallow for flip
turns. It’s not a real pool for me, not a real pool for regular lap swimmers and it’s not a real pool for our School Swim Teams or by anyone's measure it's not a real pool for anybody.
Our community needs a real pool facility. Our community needs a real pool to help make sure every kid can learn how to swim for all the obvious reasons. Our seniors need a real pool
for aquatic exercise and water aerobics. Our community deserves a real pool, if for no other reason, the existing one at Mountain View is about to die; you know it, we all know it.
On Monday, I hope you will vote to support the recommendations put forth by the Seven Aquatic Coalition Partners in their final report that will move this effort forward to eventually
let the voters decide.
