The county pool, as "envisioned" by the luminaries of the Port Townsend administration doesn't any make sense. The building designed by the contractors hired by the city is ridiculously
and needlessly expensive for our needs. As a city resident, I feel that the process that was used to drum up support for this project was unfair to county residents, and the search
for a location manipulated by the facilitators - only considering locations in the city and generally weighted toward choosing the Mountain View site. The financial projections are
overly optimistic regarding the winning of grants and receipt of donations. Sales tax receipts and revenues are also overly optimistic. Projected operating costs seem wildly underestimated
when compared to the experience of Port Angeles. The county commissioners should take the time to do a real evaluation of the numbers, and do actual research on what the whole community
wants and is willing to pay for. The Ballard King theoretical evaluation of who they think might want to use this facility based on census data is grossly inadequate and not fit for
purpose.
