Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Dear Jefferson BoCC: I am a Jefferson County resident and have recently started paying attention to the debate about the proposed aquatic center. After listening to all sides and studying the issue, I am strongly opposed to this plan, as are many of my neighborhoods and friends that I have been in discussions with. This is a bad idea and I’m amazed that the city council and commissioners have allowed it to get this far with already so much taxpayer money spent to try to convince residents that it is a good idea. Our county has too many pressing and costly issues facing us now to be focused on this expensive luxury facility. Just imagine how many county problems could be solved with the kind of money designated for the aquatic center. There appear to be many unknowns and potential pitfalls that it could leave residents holding the bag for much more than we’re told. And just because some funds would be potentially coming from grants does not make it free money – it came from federal and state taxpayers. How about getting some grants instead for infrastructure? I was a collegiate and have been a swimmer all of my life. But I can’t imagine I would use this pool nor would probably 90% of the residents of this county that would be expected to pay for it. I could have potentially support a low cost pool that was in mid-county to benefit families and where children could learn to swim. But with this option moving forward I have lost all confidence and see this plan doomed to fail. I urge you all as my representatives to vote against this moving forward to the ballot! Thanks, Dale Glantz Kala Point Resident
