Special Meeting — October 20, 2023 at 11:30 a.m.
County Government Coordination Meeting
Jefferson County Courthouse—Commissioners' Chambers
1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend, WA (Hybrid)
CALL TO ORDER: Chair Greg
Brotherton, Commissioner Heidi Eisenhour and Commissioner Kate
Dean participated in the meeting. Chair Brotherton called the meeting to order at the appointed time.
The following Jefferson County Elected Officials and staff were present: Human Resource Director
Sarah Melancon, DCD Director Josh Peters, DCD Chief Strategy Officer Brent Butler, Sheriff Joe Nole,
Public Health Director Apple Martine, Assessor Jeff Chapman, Chief Civil Deputy Jen Moore,
Treasurer Stacie Prada, Judge Mindy Walker, Public Works Director/County Engineer Monte Reinders,
Clerk Amanda Hamilton, Auditor Brenda Huntingford, Chief Deputy Assessor Sherrie Shold,
Undersheriff Andy Pernsteiner.
PUBLIC COMMENTS: Chair Brotherton called for public comments, and none were received.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH MEETINGS DEBRIEF: The group commented on the benefits of
holding the outreach meetings. The West End meeting was very productive. Chair Brotherton asked for
the meetings that weren't well attended, how can they get more public involvement? Ideas included:
• Amplifying messaging around area-specific topics (can create risks; could turn into just
discussion about topical issue and then not all topics).
• Layout the schedule with topical focus—so that it is only 1/3`d of the agenda
• Co-hosting meeting with City of Port Townsend for higher Port Townsend attendance
STRATEGIC PLAN UPDATE DEBRIEF: Commissioner Eisenhour provided an update. The group
shared ideas and concerns on adding Strategic Planning to the quarterly Coordination agenda, and
_discussed options to track department progress.
ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION: The following individuals provided a department update:

Huntingford, Judge Mindy Walker, District Court Administrator Brian Gleason, Clerk Amanda
Hamilton, Public Works Director Monte Reinders, Treasurer Stacie Prada, Assessor Jeff Chapman
DCD Director Josh Peters, Chief Strategy Officer Brent Butler, Public Health Director Apple Martine
Sheriff Joe Nole, Commissioner Greg Brotherton. The Coordination Committee discussed miscellaneous
topics.
